Purpose
The Snohomish Arts Advisory Board (SAAB) is a community-driven advisory group that guides public art policy, artist selection, and cultural programming in Snohomish. The board works in collaboration with City departments to ensure arts initiatives are inclusive, impactful, and aligned with community priorities.
Goals
- Advise City staff and Council on public art policies and cultural investments.
- Engage the community through inclusive arts programming.
- Build partnerships with artists, artisans, cultural organizations, and community members.
The Board will be supported by Community Engagement & Strategic Initiatives (CESI) staff and may also work closely with other departments on an as-needed basis
Membership
The Board will consist of 7–9 members, selected for their artistic, cultural, and technical expertise, with an aim for balanced representation across disciplines, such as:
- Visual artists
- Performing artists
- Design professionals
- Cultural and heritage representatives
- Youth or emerging artists
- Tribal representation
- Arts professionals from government or nonprofits
- Community members passionate about public art
Note: One City Councilmember may serve in an ex-officio role.
