MPD Image

The Midtown Planning District Task Force will wrap up its work at a final meeting 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, when they are expected to approve a memorandum to the Snohomish Planning Commission transmitting their recommendations.

At the meeting, the Task Force will finish its deliberations on potential recommendations that started at their February 23 meeting.  Then, they will review and approve a memorandum containing all of their final recommendations to the Snohomish Planning Commission.

Information about how the public can attend the meeting – via the internet or by calling in – is on the meeting agenda, which can be downloaded from the Midtown Planning District Project web page on the City web site.   A link to the agenda can be found under the “Final Meeting” heading.  The same information is also at the end of this article.

With the conclusion of the Task Force’s work, the Midtown District planning process will move into its next stage.  In this stage, the Planning Commission will translate the recommendations of the Task Force into Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Development Code amendments as they see fit.

The Planning Commission is expected to be working on this project for the next several months.  That work will take place at regular meeting public workshops.  Their work will conclude with a public hearing tentatively scheduled for July or August when they will take public testimony and make their recommendations to the City Council.

In addition to the agenda for the final meeting, the Midtown Planning District Project web page includes an abundance of information related to the Midtown project including agendas, meeting summaries, and PowerPoint presentations from all of the previous Task Force meetings.

If you want to stay informed about the Midtown Planning District Project, contact Planning Director Glen Pickus via email and ask to be placed on the Midtown Parties of Interest list. Parties of Interest receive emails notifying them about all meetings and process steps related to the project.
