General Election Nov. 7

City government has a number of positions and an advisory measure on the ballot this November. You can view the Snohomish County Voters Guide online, with information about local candidates and the local ballot measure on marijuana.

Here are some important dates from the Snohomish County Auditor's Office:

October 9  Last day to register to vote or update address by mail or online (myvote.wa.gov)
October 19  Ballots mailed to registered voters
October 30  Last day for new Washington state voter registration (in person)
November 7  Last day to return voted ballots

Candidates on the Ballot

  • Snohomish Mayor: John Kartak and Karen Guzak
  • City Council Position 3: Jason Sanders and Daryl Ferguson
  • City Council Position 4: Tom Merrill and R.C. "Swede" Johnson
  • City Council Position 5: Linda Redmon and Bob Dvorak
  • City Council Position 6: Larry Countryman and Eric Reyes
  • City Council Position 7: Steve Dana and Lisa Caldwell

Marijuanua Advisory Measure

The City Council placed this measure on the general election ballot to seek the opinion of voters regarding whether marijuana related businesses should be permitted to operate in the City of Snohomish.  Existing City codes prohibit all marijuana-related retail, production and processing operations.

The ballot measure is non-binding and advisory.  Following the election, the City Council would determine if the vote warrants taking any steps to revise current City codes.

Voter Registration

To register to vote in the state of Washington, you must be:  

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A legal resident of Washington state
  • At least 18 years old by election day
