Road Construction
Expect traffic delays and road/lane closures in 2016.
In 2016, traffic will be disrupted along two of the City’s main transportation corridors (30th Street and Maple Avenue). The following is a brief description of the 2016 projects:
- 30th Street (aka 56th Street SE) Widening (at SR 9) – Design funding was awarded to the City by the Puget Sound Regional Council in September 2013. Design and permitting was completed in 2015. The City was awarded construction funding by the Transportation Improvement Board in 2015. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project consists of road widening (adding a combined through/right turn lane), traffic signal improvements, paving, sidewalk improvements, retaining wall, striping, traffic control, temporary lane closure, drainage and ADA improvements.
- Maple Avenue Overlay (Pine Avenue – 2nd Street) – Transportation Improvement Board awarded the City pavement preservation funds for the purpose of overlaying Maple Avenue between Pine Avenue and Second Street. Transportation Benefit District provided matching funds for this grant. The City will partner with Snohomish County to complete the project design and construction. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project consists of grind and pavement overlay, sidewalk and ADA improvements, striping, traffic control and temporary road/lane closure.
- Seventh Street Utility and Road Improvements – Sewer and water mains will be repaired and replaced on Seventh Street between Pine Avenue and Mill Avenue. Project consists of replacing approximately 750 linear feet of sewer and water pipe, grind and pavement overlay, sidewalk and ADA improvements, striping, traffic control and temporary road/lane closure. Design to be completed in spring 2016. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project will be funded by the Sewer and Water Funds and the Transportation Benefit District (pavement overlay).
- Tenth Street/Mill Avenue Sewer Improvements – Sewer main will be repaired and replaced on Tenth Street at Mill Avenue. Project consists of replacing approximately 75 linear feet of sewer pipe, asphalt patch, striping, traffic control and temporary road/lane closure. Design to be completed in spring 2016. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project will be funded by the Sewer Fund.
- South Zone Reservoir Pressure Reducing Valve – A pressure reducing valve (prv) will be installed at the South Zone Reservoir site, located at the southeast corner of Pine Avenue/13th Street. Project consists of installation of a prv, water main connection at Pine Avenue/13th Street, asphalt patch, striping, surface restoration, traffic control and temporary lane closure. Design to be completed in spring 2016. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project will be funded by the Water Fund.
- Blackmans Lake Outlet Improvement – Project consists of replacing four culverts at Ferguson Park Road, constructing an earth berm and overflow channel, removing sediment from the existing channel, grind and pavement overlay of Avenue A (from 13th Street to Ferguson Park Road) and Ferguson Park Road, sidewalk and ADA improvements, surface restoration, plantings, striping, traffic control and temporary road/lane closure. Permitting has been completed. Design to be completed in spring 2016. Construction will begin in summer 2016. Project will be funded by the Storm Fund and Transportation Benefit District (pavement overlay).
Expect some overlap of the construction schedules for theSE PROJECTS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.
