Snohomish City Council

The City of Snohomish operates as a mayor-council, non-partisan form of government, with a strong-mayor. The seven-member City Council and the Mayor, all representing the community at large, are each elected for staggard four-year terms. The City Council serves as the Legislative Branch the Mayor as the Executive Branch. The Mayor serves as the City's chief executive and administrative officer who oversees all departments and employees. The Mayor attends and presides over Council meetings but does not vote, except in certain cases to break a tie. Volunteer boards and commissions provide recommendations to the City Council on various topics and issues.

The City Council adopts the City's Biennial Budget, establishes law and policy, approves appropriations and contracts, levies taxes, and grants franchises.
