The Snohomish City Council must fill a vacant City Council position until the next municipal election in November 2021.
The successful candidate must be a registered voter of the City at the time of application and have been a resident of the City for a period of at least one year (RCW 35A.12.030).
Any qualified resident living within the city limits of Snohomish may apply online at https://www.snohomishwa.gov/115/City-Council, or contact Brandi Whitson at 360-282-3181 to request an application.
Applications must be received by the City Clerk no later than Friday, October 2, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Any applications received after that time will not be considered. The City Council is tentatively scheduled to meet on October 6, 2020 to conduct an initial review of applications, and depending on how many are received, it may narrow the number to be interviewed to about six finalists. Finalists will be invited to participate in a public meeting tentatively scheduled for October 20, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. to interview with City Councilmembers. Following the interviews, it is expected that a selection will be made. The selected candidate will be sworn in at the regularly scheduled council meeting on approximately Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
The position will be included in the regular 2021 General Municipal Election as a special election for a two-year term to fill the balance of the term expiring on December 31, 2023. The elected Councilmember would be seated after the November 2021 election results are certified.
