City of Snohomish Awards Small Business Recovery Grants
31 businesses to receive funding

Snohomish, Wash. August 25, 2020 - The City of Snohomish has announced 31 grant awards to local small businesses to offset necessary expenditures incurred with respect to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Money that was made available through the US Treasury for cities, individuals and businesses known as (CARES) is the source of the grant funding. A total of $108,000 of the City’s $306,000 allocation was used in this small business relief effort.

“Snohomish businesses have been greatly impacted by mandatory closures and pandemic related expenses,” said Mayor John T. Kartak. “Our hope is that these grants can help keep a business door open in these times of uncertainty.”

Businesses that received a grant award can submit for reimbursement from these types of expenses:

  • business rent or mortgage
  • payroll
  • utilities
  • inventory
  • marketing
  • improvements to meet social distancing requirements

The City received 37 applications for grant assistance. 6 did not meet basic eligibility requirements and were not considered. Most of the 31 eligible applicants received an allocation of $3,500 with additional  consideration if the applicant had already received PPP, SBA, EIDL or other grant funding, was able to operate on-line or in a limited capacity, or if they were still closed under the Governor’s Safe Start Washington Plan. Every eligible applicant received a grant award.
