Annual Residential Garbage and Recycling Drop Off Event

Make a dent in your spring cleaning by bringing your unwanted furniture and debris to the City’s annual Residential Garbage and Recycling Cleanup Event.
Bring proof of residency.

Is your basement, garage or shed a hot mess? Have you been storing up old rugs and appliances or piling up your kids worn out toys just waiting to conveniently dispose of them? Make a dent in your spring cleaning by bringing your unwanted furniture and debris to the City’s annual Residential Garbage and Recycling Cleanup Event Saturday, April 6th from 8a.m. to 2p.m. at the City’s Public Works yard. The program is open to City of Snohomish residents and water customers only. A driver’s license or utility bill is required for proof of residency. 


“Our annual garbage and recycle event is designed to help our residents properly dispose of or recycle bulky items that do not fit in the weekly refuse collection or curbside recycling containers,” said John Kartak, Mayor of Snohomish. “Last year, we collected over 76 tons of trash and 12 tons of recycling, preventing recyclables from going into the landfill and garbage from being illegally dumped,” he said.


The following items are examples of refuse that can be dropped off free of charge:

  • · Regular household garbage
  • · Yard Waste (bundled)
  • · Furniture (Including hot tubs)
  • · Children’s Toys
  • · Scrap Metal
  • · Lawn mowers without fluids
  • · Appliances without Freon
  • · Tires without rims
  • · TV’s
  • · Computers
  • · Monitors
  • · Laptops
  • · Cell Phones

Items not permitted:

  • · Appliances with Freon
  • · Paint and Chemicals
  • · Roofing Materials
  • · Rocks/Dirt/Sod
  • · Batteries
  • · Medical Waste
  • · Stumps
  • · Pesticides/Thinners
  • · Sheetrock
  • · Fluorescent Tubes
  • · Motors with oil or fuel
  • · Explosives
  • · Asbestos/Insulation
  • · Concrete/Asphalt

**No commercial garbage or material**

The City of Snohomish Public Works yard is located at 1801 First Street. Vehicles must be within the gated property be 2p.m. to dispose of garbage and debris.
